The Mattawa Gaming Club – The Outdoor Women

Mattawa-Gaming-ClubTrophy moose, black bear and white tailed deer are abundant throughout the thousands of square miles (yes that’s thousands) of crown managed forests accessible from our lodge.

Located at the junction of the historic Ottawa and Mattawa rivers the lodge offers the unique opportunity to fish and hunt in two Canadian provinces. This means twice the territory, expanded seasons and greater variety of species. For example Quebec allows a moose to be taken by bow during bow season and by rifle during rifle season. Ontario on the other hand has regulations for deer hunting much less stringent than Quebec. Our experienced management and guides will design annual hunts to ensure the best opportunities for each species in each province.

Small game and waterfowl hunting are great ways to spend some time after you’ve taken your big game animal. When you want to fish for fun you can catch Walleye, Northern Pike, Large and Small Mouth Bass, Muskie, Whitefish and Sturgeon off the dock. When you want to get serious we’ll take you into the ZEC MAGANASIPI. Just across the river, this three hundred square mile preserve offers three hundred and seven lakes. Rainbow trout, Lake Trout, Brook Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Lake Char, Splake and Sauger along with the others mentioned above can be caught in record numbers and trophy sizes. Just a forty five minute drive from the club (paved road) puts you in ALGONQUIN PARK. Four thousand and eight hundred square miles of protected wilderness, a thousand miles of inter connected canoe routes and lakes, fishing and wild life viewing without equal in North America.

Sound like your in the middle of nowhere?

The Mattawa Gaming Club is located just four miles from the village of Mattawa, Ontario. Less than three hundred miles from Buffalo NY or five hundred miles from Clevland Ohio.

Mattawa and area is a snowmobilers paradise. Ontario offers excellent snow conditions and the largest groomed trail system in the world, twenty two thousand miles. To access this system from the club just turn on your machine and go. Or go wild! We’ll take you across the river and into the Laurentian mountains, country so remote and breathtakingly beautiful you’ll remember it forever. Deep powder, 50 degree hill climbs and lakes not accessible in summer provide trophy ice fishing that combine to make these trips world class adventures.

Or how about a little boat ride?

Say two hundred miles along the Lake Temiskaming /Ottawa River Waterway. Accommodating boats up to thirty feet in length the route is a historical and cultural treasure. First used as the main exploration route to the west, then as a major fur trade route in Canada and then for the massive logging drives of the eighteen hundreds the waterway offers the opportunity to revisit our past and learn of the three cultures (Native, Quebecois, and English) that came together to open up this massive wilderness. Visit historic sites and museums, watch Golden Eagles soar and dive for fish to feed their young, camp on pristine beaches and fall asleep to the sound of loons, unconcerned with your presence.

But what about the club?
The club is dedicated to avid sportsmen and comes fully equipped to help ensure your fishing and hunting success. Members have use of one of three fully furnished lodges. Boats and motors are supplied as are two A.T.V.s to get you to your hunting grounds. Two camping trailers are provided for use during extended hunts. Block and tackle assemblies for game removal and cleaning are also provided. Fish cleaning stations and big game cleaning quarters are on site as are minnow tanks, freezing facilities and on site fuel pumps for your convenience. The club has a total of twenty seven boat and float plane slips for those members wishing to bring their own craft. Year round storage is available and on site management provides security. A full range of guiding and outfitting services are provided to ensure you bring home what you came for. It’s a small private club in a big big land. A total of only eighteen members are allowed to bring up to three guests each time they visit.

Our experienced hospitality management team is on site year round to coordinate bookings and ensure your satisfaction. Individual members have an opportunity to put forth changes to the clubs rules and regulations on an annual basis and such changes will be voted on by the membership. Memberships are legally transferred by way of a ninety nine year lease registered in the Ontario Land Transfer Registry. Memberships are fully assignable and may be transferred, willed or resold at any time. Our American members can take advantage of current monetary exchange rates that reduce membership costs by approximately thirty five percent. For less than the cost of a new bass boat, you, your children and your children’s children can secure your place in the finest wilderness area in the east.
