Seward Alaska fishing is a fun-filled and memorable adventure for anglers of all ages and whether you and your family are experts or just beginners. Seward Alaska Halibut Tournament
This is an eagerly-awaited early-season annual opportunity for resident and visiting anglers from throughout Alaska to catch and tag some big halibut in the beautiful waters beyond Resurrection Bay in the North Gulf Coast and top that off by the possibility of winning cash prizes. The date for this “fishing derby” in 2018 starts June 1 from Noon to 11:59 PM.
Tickets are $10.00 a day or a three-day ticket is $25.00. At the end of the tournament, cash prizes are awarded. For the heaviest fish: First place $5,000, Second place $2,500, and Third place $1,500. There are also daily prizes. Tagged fish prizes are $1,000, $500, and $250, and there is no limit on the number of tagged fish that can be caught by one person.
Kenai Fjords National Park Glacier
While you are in the area, you can take longer cruises, but even a six-hour cruise is an educational catamaran 100-mile trip through the stunning landscapes of the pristine Alaskan wilderness. The tour begins at Seward’s Resurrection Bay, goes into the Gulf of Alaska, and then up into Aialik Bay and the Aialik Glacier, Holgate Glacier, the Chiswell Islands, and Cape Resurrection. You will have close views of large populations of wildlife such as sea lions, humpback whales, bald eagles, nesting seabirds, sea otters, and mountain goats.
One of the best features is that a National Park Ranger accompanies the voyage and provides a running commentary on the sights you are seeing. The cabins are heated, and you can upgrade to include a buffet.
